As too often, Michelin's race Le Mans Cup this Saturday evening in Barcelona was marked by a far too high number of accidents and cautions. The most important of these occurred shortly after the halfway point when Marta García, leading the GT3 class at the wheel of the Porsche 911 n°83 of the Iron Dames, was sent into the wall by Eliseo Donno (Ferrari 296 n°51 of AF Corse).
After hitting the wall, the white and pink car returned to the middle of the other competitors with a fire starting. Fortunately, Vanina Ickx's teammate got out under her own power and no other cars were involved in this accident.
« We are pleased to confirm that Marta García is recovering well from yesterday's incident during the Michelin Le Mans Cup race.
After undergoing extensive medical examinations, she suffered no major injuries and is already smiling again. As a precaution, she remained under observation overnight and will be monitored today.
We would like to thank the medical teams on track and in the hospital, as well as all the fans for their support.
Marta's health and safety remains our top priority, and we look forward to seeing her back on the track soon. » communicated the Italian team on its social networks.
