After almost 30 minutes in the first qualifying session, Audi moved into the first three places ahead of the three Peugeot 908. André Lotterer (Audi R18 n°2) holds the best time in 3:27:939, ahead of the R18 n°1 of Mike Rockenfeller by a hundredth. Tom Kristensen is at 0??362 on n°3.

Alexander Wurz places the first Peugeot in 4th place. The driver of the #908 7 is 0” behind the first Audi. He is followed by the n°857 of Sébastien Bourdais and the No. 8 of Franck Montagny.

La Lola-Aston Martin #22 of Kronos Racing driven by Bas Leinders is in the pits following a broken transmission shaft. The Belgian team is not the only one to encounter problems since the No. 200 Norma M44P-Judd BMW of Extreme Limite AM Paris driven by Fabien Rosier is stopped in the Hunaudières.
