Mike Rockenfeller first sets the best time of the session. The driver of the No. 18 Audi R1 TDI sets a time of 3:27 ahead of the No. 949 Audi R18 of Tom Kristensen and the Peugeot 908 n°7 by Alexander Wurz.
Jean-François Yvon, driver of the No. 24 OAK Pescarolo-Judd, went off the track and slightly damaged the rear of his LMP1. Tom Kimber-Smith damaged the right front of his Greaves Motorsport Zytek Z11SN-Nissan.
L?Aston Martin 007 also returned to the pits after Christian Klein damaged the left front of his car. Its sister car, the 009 driven by Adrian Fernandez, also experienced problems after stopping on the track.
