Death of Marcel Martin

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest announced the death of Marcel Martin at the age of 88. Marcel Martin first started as a competitor via the Maine stable, competing in events in rally and in hill racing.

At the same time, Marcel Martin officiates as pit marshal on the Sarthe double clock tower. He disputes the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1967 and 1968 on an Abarth 1300 then on a Fiat Dino, before becoming assistant race director and then taking over from Charles Deutsch after his death in 1980.

It is under his leadership that the safety cars will be used in the race and that surveillance cameras on the Bugatti track will be installed.
