The red flag was displayed during the second qualifying session of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2018, suite à la sortie de piste d’Andy Priaulx (Ford GT n°67) au niveau du Tertre Rouge, mais aussi quelques minutes après le contact avec les barrières de la Porsche 911 RSR n°94 de Sven Müller à Indianapolis.
Priaulx lost control of his car while braking, putting one wheel in the grass before hitting the protective tires while reversing. The former WTCC world champion was able to leave, but with a Ford GT that was quite damaged at its rear, and without a rear wing.
Debris was also reported on the runway.
