The new date of 24 Hours of Le Mans (September 19-20) is not to suit the Supercars drivers. While we were delighted to see Tim Slade (Ferrari 488 GTE Evo no. 80 from HubAuto Racing) and even more so the 2016 champion Shane van Gisbergen (Ligier JS P217 no. 35 from Eurasia Motorsport), it is a safe bet that the two men will have to give up on their dream.

Indeed, that weekend, the Australian and the New Zealander are expected at The Bend 500, an event being, moreover, the opening round of the Enduro Cup. “Gisby” will share the wheel of his No. 97 Holden Commodore with Garth Tander on this occasion, while Slade will lend a hand to outgoing double champion Scott McLaughlin in the No. 17 Ford Mustang GT.

There could, unfortunately, be other collateral victims of this change of dates, with all the championships trying as best they can to postpone their events.
