The wish of the major manufacturers present in endurance has just been granted by the ACO. Indeed, 2010 saw the appearance of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. If this season this trophy only has three events (Silverstone 1000 km on September 12, Petit Le Mans on October 2 and Zuhai in China on November 7), from 2011 it will display a calendar including 7 rounds including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, contested on major circuits on three different continents, giving birth to a true world endurance championship.
“Audi has been involved in prototype sports since 1999 and has always campaigned in favor of a world championship for this discipline, affirms the big boss of Audi Sport. We are delighted to see that the ACO has turned this wish into reality. The Intercontinental Le Mans Cup will give us the opportunity to race our prototypes in places that are very important markets.
