Peugeot , three weeks after the bitter failure of 24 Hours of Le Mans, detected the problem which affected three of the four Peugeot 908 HDi FAP during the race, victims of engine failure. “ We very quickly had confirmation that all three had suffered from the same problem: a broken connecting rod, but on different cylinders. », Explains Bruno Famin, technical director of Peugeot Sport. “ In-depth investigations have just revealed that the particularly severe conditions encountered at Le Mans this year generated a fatal overload of our V12. »

As for the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP n°3, the first of the four cars to have retired, it is the manufacturing quality of the hull which is the cause of the breakage of the suspension bracket. “ This is a totally undetectable defect which caused the premature and sudden breakage of the binding. », explains Bruno Famin.
