This Tuesday, May 26, it has been 97 years since the first edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans (Sarthe) took place. On this occasion, the France 2 television news dedicated its historical sequence to the Le Mans event, its beginnings in 1923, its evolution over the decades and its role as a laboratory in the automobile industry. The winner of the 1993 edition with Peugeot Éric Hélary also gives his testimony:
