In a press release, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest reminds fans ofEndurance that the Sebring race historically presents some tasty particularities. Here they are.

– It is forbidden to heat the tires in the stands, using blankets or boxes designed for this purpose, as is commonly seen today. The tires can therefore only be warmed up on the track.

– Four mechanics can change the wheels of a car simultaneously, compared to two in Europe, and have two pneumatic guns instead of one. This difference is explained by the infrastructure of American circuits where a wall prevents mechanics from going back and forth between the pit and the car. The consequence of this will be faster tire changes.

– The entrance to the pits is closed at the start of each neutralization. The lane is reopened once the competitors have regrouped behind the safety car. This rule is one of the most complex to manage as there are so many safety car exits at Sebring.

– There are no garages along the pit straight. Any mechanical intervention requiring more than four mechanics must be carried out in a temporary paddock located away from the track. At Sebring more than elsewhere, the slightest mechanical problem will be prohibitive here.

The 12 Hours of Sebring will take place on Saturday February 19. In the meantime, find the first reports of the Sebring tests on autohebdo.fr
