A second red flag was displayed in Q2 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, following the accident suffered by Giorgio Sernagiotto (Dallara P217 n°47 – Villorba Corse) at the first Hunaudières chicane.
The Italian prototype appeared seriously damaged on TV images, with debris strewn across the track. The pilot, however, got out of his Dallara P217, although an ambulance was dispatched to the scene of the incident.
