Over the last two years, with the aim of reducing costs, the ACO had eliminated the test day for 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2011 it makes its return, and will be held on Sunday April 24. Between 2004 and 2008, this day was held two weeks before the event. The fact that it takes place a month and a half before will allow certain teams who have taken the wrong path to correct their situation somewhat. The year a new regulation comes into force, this will not be a luxury.
On the other hand, any presence is not obligatory except for drivers, teams or cars having never taken the start of the Sarthe double clock tour. The ACO announced yesterday that 76 cars could be present, which will allow Formula Le Mans or experimental cars to explore the great Sarthe circuit.
The program will be divided as follows: Technical checks on Saturday April 23, and driving on Sunday April 24 from 9 a.m. to 13 p.m. and from 14 p.m. to 18 p.m.
This day will be open to the public (10€). Entrance to the test day is included in the 24 2011 Hours of Le Mans ticket.
