Author of a nasty defense against his own teammate Sebastian Vettel when the German tried to overtake him on the left between turns 3 and 4, Lance stroll received a ten-second penalty and three penalty points on his license. As a direct result, the Canadian, who finished 17th in the sprint race, will move back one position in favor ofEsteban Ocon (18th) on the Grand Prix grid on Sunday, and now has 8 penalty points (out of 12).
A harsh sanction... but fair, given the dangerousness of the Canadian's movement. While he was on the right of the track, Lance Stroll violently swerved to the left in order to block the path of his teammate Sebastian Vettel, who had to put half of his car in the grass and risk leaving the track. Race management felt that Stroll's move was deliberate.
