Respectively authors of the 10th and 19th qualifying times, Alexander albon (Red Bull) and Nicholas latifi (Williams) will not start from these positions on the starting grid this Sunday. In fact, both men were penalized by the race officials.
Forced to change their gearboxes, Alexander Albon and Nicholas Latifi both lost 5 positions on the starting grid. Thus, the first will start from 15th row while the second will do so from 19th this Sunday.
“The gearbox was replaced with the approval of the FIA technical delegate following a written request from the team concerned (requested on September 26, 2020 at 19:25 p.m.), this being in accordance with article 34.2 of the Sporting Regulations of the Formula 1 2020. The gearbox change took place before the expiration of the six consecutive events.
This is therefore not in compliance with article 23.5a of the 1 Formula 2020 Sporting Regulations and I refer this question to the stewards for examination,” indicates Formula technical delegate Jo Bauer in his report. 1.
