While he had achieved the 13th fastest time, Fernando Alonso (McLaren) opted for a start of the Austrian Grand Prix (15:10 p.m. this Sunday) from the stands. The Spaniard will have a new MGU-K Renault but also a new front wing.
With this new engine block, the double world champion of F1 should have started from the back of the grid. But the wing change during the parc ferme rule on Saturday evening caused him to start from the pits.
