Is the Dakar missing? Fernando Alonso ? The double world champion took a trip through the gravel trap of the Suzuka circuit which must have reminded him of his time on the rally raid the most famous in the world. The Free Practice 2 session of the Japanese Grand Prix was marked by the violent exit of Jack Doohan, who crashed his Alpine at the first corner and caused a session interruption of more than twenty minutes.

The race had barely resumed when Fernando Alonso made a mistake this time. The Spaniard was approaching the Degner corner when he bit the grass with his left front and rear wheels. His Aston Martin found itself slightly destabilized in the braking zone and was unable to take the bend.
The Oviedo native headed straight into the gravel trap and tried to maintain speed to extricate himself, but was unsuccessful. Fernando Alonso's car became stuck in the gravel, prompting a second red flag. The session was briefly interrupted but was able to resume for the final 20 minutes of running.
