An expensive ride. Broke down during the first free practice session of the Australian Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) decided to reach the pit lane by scooter. An almost usual procedure for all pilots suffering from the same problem. However, the German chose to go through the circuit, thus not respecting article 26.7 of the regulations which “ prohibits any person from being on the track within five minutes of the end of a session with the exception of specifically identified personnel. » Personnel of which the pilots are not part of less than one “ specific authorization ».
Summoned by the race director, Sebastian Vettel was interviewed by the officials and finally got away with a fine of 5 euros and without the slightest penalty. As for his car, the German saw his mechanics install a new power unit for the rest of the weekend. Don't worry, he won't have to fall back on the grid in Melbourne.
