Right from the start of the Miami Grand Prix, Jack Doohan was the first to retire. A puncture on the front left tire after heavy contact with Liam Lawson ended his race. Alpine being at the heart of rumors concerning his truncated future within his team, the image of his retirement could be notable at the end of the weekend.

Later in the race, three other drivers then retired. Among them, Oliver Bearman can feel some regret. The Briton, then 12th normally, had a decent pace when his engine seemed to literally die suddenly while the international broadcast was focused on him. Provoking a virtual safety car, the driver Haas was not the last in this case.

On lap 32, Gabriel Bortoleto also had to retire due to an engine fault. Unlike Ollie Bearman, who suffered a clean break, the Brazilian had begun warning his team four laps earlier but chose to stay on track. Losing power, the Sauber driver was nevertheless unable to continue.

With Liam Lawson also retiring before the 40th lap of the race, the rookies seem to have been struck by an unfortunate fate in this Grand Prix.
