Flavio Briatore seems convinced that Sergey Sirotkin will beat Robert Kubica to the post by obtaining the second seat of Williams for 2018.
While the Grove team is the last to have not finalized its crew for the next season, the Russian, supported by major creditors, should be favored by the British structure at the expense of the Pole who has nevertheless completed several sessions of tests with a view to a return as a starter in the discipline.
“I'm really sorry that Kubica couldn't convince Williams, commented the Italian in Speed Week. He tried everything but the Russian has a huge budget. We are talking about around 20 million (currency not specified). Kubica should only be able to bring together between seven and ten. It would have been a major success for the F1 if Robert had managed to return to the discipline. I find it very strange that the F1 governing bodies did not help. »
