Kevin Magnussen (Haas) destroyed his VF19 exiting the Wall of Champions at the end of Q2 of the Canadian GP. The Dane came out of his car, but the car suffered heavy damage. The driver of the American team lost the rear of his mount at the exit of the last turn and bounced off the inside wall. The stewards displayed the red flag, trapping several drivers who were not in the Top 10.

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) is the first eliminated by failing a few thousandths behind Kevin Magnussen, officially qualified for Q3 but who will not be able to participate in the last session. The Dutchman precedes Dannil Kvyat (Toro Rosso), Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo), Alexander albon (Toro Rosso) and Romain Grosjean (Haas) who couldn't even complete a timed lap.
The Mercedes were the fastest. Lewis Hamilton improved the benchmark with a lap completed in 1'11'010 with medium tires. Valtteri Bottas followed at 85 thousandths. Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) followed a tenth just ahead Pierre Gasly (Red Bull) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). THE Renault de Daniel Ricciardo et Nico Hulkenberg precede the McLaren de Carlos Sainz Jr and Lando Norris.
