The event will take place on June 7th. The pilot Williams will take to the track in a "roadshow" around IFEMA, where the 2026 Madrid Grand Prix will take place. Sainz will drive on roads that will be used by the future Madring. The Williams FW45, car used by the Grove team in 2023, will thus carry the colors of the FW47 used this year by Sainz and his teammate Alexander albon. After four seasons at Ferrari, Carlos Sainz changed teams this winter, and is currently in thirteenth place in the championship, with seven points scored.
The exhibition, which will be held six days after the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, will be an opportunity to highlight the three single-seater series that will be competing in Madrid next year. Alongside Carlos Sainz, there will be two drivers from Campos Racing, a Spanish team present in the promotional formulas. Pepe Martí, currently second in the championship F2 and member of Red Bull Junior Team, will drive his single-seater, just like Mari Boya, who currently competes in F3, with the same stable.
“Madrid is obviously my hometown. I grew up here and started doing karting in this city », Sainz explained. “Having the chance to drive an F1 car in my own backyard is a dream come true for me and an incredible opportunity for Madrid to show everyone our potential and our desire to become the best circuit and the most beautiful event on the entire F1 calendar! This roadshow is just the first step in bringing the Formula 1 of all and highlight the unique character that the Madring route will offer.
The Madrid Grand Prix will take place on a 5,4-kilometer semi-permanent circuit, consisting of 22 turns. The most impressive part of the track will undoubtedly be Turn 12, named "La Monumental." A long, fast hairpin bend with a 24% slope. More than 40 spectators are expected at this corner alone, and the atmosphere is expected to be truly exceptional.
