Recognized as mainly responsible for the clash with Lance stroll (Williams) at turn n°1 during the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Spaniard Carlos Sainz (Toro Rosso) received a three-place penalty on the starting grid for the next Russian Grand Prix (April 28-30).
Sainz also receives two penalty points on his license, which increases the Iberian driver's points total over a period of twelve months to seven, out of an authorized accumulation of twelve.
