The tiles are linked together to Mercedes after Free Practice 3 of the Saudi Arabian GP.
In addition to the double summons of Lewis Hamilton for non-compliance with a double yellow flag and supposed blocking of a competitor, the German team had to change the power unit of its other driver, Valtteri Bottas.
The Finn was indeed the victim of a fuel leak during FP3. Given the tight timing between the 3rd free session and qualifying in Jeddah, which begins at 18:00 p.m. French time, the decision was made to replace Bottas' engine with another unit, already introduced this season.
Bottas will therefore escape the penalty but will probably benefit from a little less power at a crucial moment of the season.
UPDATE: We had a fuel leak on Valtteri's Power Unit at the end of FP3.
Without sufficient time to diagnose and resolve the leak, we are swapping the PU for another unit from the pool. ?️ pic.twitter.com/DET92DoPWT
