This is a second penalty on the starting grid for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. If Carlos Sainz is still involved, this time, it is not the Spaniard who is sanctioned, but rather Lance stroll. The pilot Aston Martin was guilty of overtaking on the Ferrari in an area under double yellow flags, during Free Practice 3 on the night of Friday to Saturday. An infraction that occurred at the very end of the session, when Alex Albon hit the wall five minutes from the end of the session.

Heard by the commissioners, Lance Stroll admitted his fault, declaring that he had the “ head down " looking at his dashboard and concentrating on Carlos Sainz's Ferrari in front of him, without having seen the flags. Consequence: five penalty places on the starting grid for the Las Vegas Grand Prix and three penalty points on the points license for his Super License. The Canadian sees his total penalty points rise to five.
