Melbourne could host its final F1 Grand Prix at Albert Park, before the Australian round of the World Championship Formula 1 does not move to a permanent circuit. According to the Australian newspaper Sunday Herald Sun, the FIA wants the Australian Federation to study the possibility of building a floodlit circuit in the Melbourne suburb of Avalon. The aim is to be able to hold the Australian Grand Prix at night, so that the race is broadcast in Europe at a peak audience time.
Albert Park in Melbourne, which is due to host this season's Australian Grand Prix from March 26 to 28, is under contract with the FOM until 2015.
