The Montreal circuit was not successful for the Japanese manufacturer. The tires (soft and hard) of the single-seaters all collapsed in the first laps of the race. While Bridgestone had announced one or two stops to be made, several drivers were forced to stop at least three times. The factor in question would be the new circuit coating that the manufacturer discovered.

The premature wear of the rubber dissipated over the course of the race, due to the rise in temperature and the deposits of rubber on the track.
