The promotion of Pastor Maldonado at Williams takes a real political turn. During the first tests in Valencia, the British team was visited by the Venezuelan ambassador stationed in Spain, Julián Isaías Rodríguez Díaz, accompanied for the occasion by a representative of the Venezuelan oil group also, PSUV, and sponsor of Williams.
At the end of his quick interview, Maldonado said he was “happy to be in Formula One to represent Venezuela. Knowing that people like the ambassador are behind me is very important and proves that Venezuela is pushing very hard for me and for the sport.”
We can bet that this support will be shown in both good and bad times...
