The Hispania Racing Team mechanics went to great lengths to finish assembling the car of Bruno Senna, who was able to take to the track before the end of the first free practice session. Double first, for the Spanish team and for the nephew of Ayrton Senna, who jointly make their first laps in F1.
Meanwhile, Adrian Sutil (Force India) was faster than all the top team drivers. The German set the best time of the session, in 1'56''696, before improving to 1'56''583.
