In discussions since Valencia with the Scuderia, the double world champion could arrive at Ferrari earlier than expected alongside Kimi Räikkönen. However, Renault not wishing to rely solely on a duo of young drivers, Fernando Alonso could be blocked in his plans. Contrary to rumors, nothing has been signed between the Scuderia and Giancarlo Fisichella at present. Maranello is expected to make his decision official for the Italian Grand Prix later this week.
