Esteban Ocon (Force India) narrowly qualified for Q2 as rain began to fall at the end of the session. The Frenchman set the 15th time with 5 thousandths ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr. (Renault). Brendon Hartley (Toro Rosso) took 17th position ahead Fernando Alonso (McLaren), Lance stroll (Williams) and Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren).
Max Verstappen (Red Bull) signed the best time with a lap completed in 1'08''205, preceding the group by a little less than 2 tenths. Ferrari de Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.
