Nico Hulkenberg (Renault) is the first eliminated from Q2 at the US GP in Austin (Texas) after failing to be a tenth behind Pierre Gasly (Red Bull). The former winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans preceded Kevin Magnussen (Haas) and Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) who saw his best time canceled. Lance stroll (Racing Point) and Romain Grosjean (Haas) completed the classification of the session.
The Ferrari were at the forefront, Charles Leclerc having completed a lap in 1'32''760 with 22 thousandths ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) ranked 3rd between the Red Bulls ofAlexander albon and Max Verstappen.
