Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) is the first eliminated from Q2 at the Russian GP by failing just behind the Renault de Daniel Ricciardo et Nico Hulkenberg. The Frenchman who will have to move back 5 places on the grid preceded Sergio Pérez (Racing Point), Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo), Kevin Magnussen (Haas) and Lance stroll (RacingPoint).
The Ferrari finished first again with Charles Leclerc author of a time of 1’32”434 with a tenth ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) followed in 3rd place ahead of Mercedes de Lewis Hamilton et Valtteri Bottas which have evolved into medium tires. Romain Grosjean (Haas) ranked 6th ahead of the McLaren de Lando Norris et Carlos Sainz Jr.
