While Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) was leading the Russian GP, the four-time world champion retired due to mechanical problems. His teammate Charles Leclerc having already gone to the stands, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) took the opportunity to make his stop during the interruption and take control of the race.
Romain Grosjean (Haas) retired after a collision in the first round. Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) is in 13th position.
