Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) was eliminated at the end of Q2 of the Singapore GP by ranking 13th behind Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo). Sergio Pérez was the closest to Q3, failing 4 hundredths behind Nico Hulkenberg (Renault), but the Mexican will fall 5 places following a gearbox change following contact with the wall in FP3. Kimi Räikkönen (Alfa Romeo) set the 14th fastest time ahead Kevin Magnussen (Haas).
The Ferrari finished first in Q2 with Charles Leclerc author of a time of 1'36''650 with 7 hundredths ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) followed more than 2 tenths ahead Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes). The Renaults qualified for Q3 with Daniel Ricciardo 9th ahead of his German teammate.
