Best placed of the three French drivers in the Sprint Qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix this Friday, Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls) could perhaps have hoped for a move up to SQ3, but the French driver did not have the opportunity to set a time in SQ2 after a small error in the first corner of the Shanghai circuit.
« It's complicated in turn 1, it's so long, testified Isack Hadjar on Canal +. There's a big change in grip during the corner. I've been battling with that all day and overdid it a bit at that point. We only had one attempt. It wasn't possible to go for another lap after that."
After this aborted attempt, the driver of the Racing Bulls n°6 played the team game by offering the slipstream to his teammate Yuki tsunoda in the long straight of the third sector. The Japanese driver climbed into SQ3, ultimately finishing eighth on the Sprint grid.
"I gave him a nice aspiration, confirms Hadjar. I was really comfortable, it's a shame. It's difficult to expect anything from starting in 15th place. This will only be a learning curve. Today was training for the real qualifying tomorrow. »
The sprint will start at 4:00 a.m. (French time) this Saturday morning. Qualifying for the Grand Prix will take place at 8:00 a.m.
