The 2025 Chinese Grand Prix weekend, the second round of the season in F1, was marked by the passing of Eddie Jordan on Thursday. The colorful Irishman, founder of the team of the same name, passed away after a battle with prostate and bladder cancer, diagnosed in 2024. A beloved figure who left his mark on the championship, the sport will pay a final tribute to the former team manager.
F1 has confirmed that it will pay a special tribute to the late Eddie Jordan on Sunday, ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix. A ceremony will be held just before the drivers' parade, bringing teams and drivers together on the grid, to commemorate the Irishman's life and career.
Eddie Jordan founded the eponymous Jordan Grand Prix team in 1991, the year it debuted a number of Michael Schumacher at the Belgian Grand Prix. Between 1991 and 2005, the Jordan GP team won four Grands Prix and even finished 3rd in the world championship in 1999. In 2005, Eddie Jordan sold his team to Midland, which then became Spyker in 2007, Force India between 2008 and 2018, Racing Point between 2018 and 2020 and finally Aston Martin since 2021. Moreover, the Silverstone-based team already offers a special tribute on its AMR25.
