The theater of the British Grand Prix has chosen to honor the seven-time world champion by renaming its start/finish straight “ Hamilton Straight.” The pilot Mercedes won 7 times at Silverstone but his first home success was acquired in 2008 on a route which did not yet include the new “Hamilton Straight”, which passes in front of the Silverstone Wing building.
Before Hamilton, no other driver had received such an honor in Northamptonshire. David Coulthard, president of the BRDC of which Hamilton has been a member since 2006, announced the news to the person concerned this afternoon in Abu Dhabi.
