It's been a little over a year since the news became known to everyone. Starting next season, Madrid will make its grand return to the already busy schedule of the F1, and will inaugurate its first event hosted since 1981. Barcelona, current host of the annual stage in Spain, should then experience its last event in 2026 if no agreement is reached by then.
So, the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit is out, replaced by the "Madring," a new track located on the outskirts, northeast of the Spanish capital, particularly close to the airport. Although city circuits are now a common feature in F1, this one is expected to have a major twist. A particularly impressive banking has been revealed.
“La Monumental” as Madrid’s trademark?
While the entire Madrid circuit hasn't been revealed, the organizers of the upcoming Grand Prix have begun sharing the first 3D images of what some of the corners are expected to look like. Dubbed "La Monumental," this section of the circuit will feature a 24% banked slope spanning nearly 548 meters and 12 meters wide. Around this hairpin, 45 spectators will be able to watch the action unfold.
With Zandvoort, Europe's other track with a visible 19% banked slope, also set to leave the calendar after 2026, Madrid appears to be poised to establish itself as a demanding event at first glance. While the extremely tight sequences of turns 6 and 7, as well as the "Chicane" at turns 10 and 11, have already been revealed, the technical sections seem to be multiplying on the streets of Madrid.
🔴 Today, we reveal one of MADRING's emblems for the first time.
