Williams' misfortune in Q2

Confident a week after his exploit during Belgian GP qualifying, George Russell seemed to be heading towards a new place in Q3 this season before losing control of his Williams at the end of his quick turn. An error triggering a first red flag. “We all want circuits that punish you and that's certainly the case, I pushed too hard. I knew that lap would have been just good enough to put me in the top 10 at that point. My tires were over the limit, and I knew I had to attack the last corner to keep that speed on the straight, but ultimately I went too fast.", declared the Briton.

An exit from the track which ruined his lap but also his teammate's only attempt Nicholas latifi on new soft rubbers. The Canadian was thus interrupted by the red flag while he was also improving his time. The driver of the number 6 tried everything by coming out with worn tires to try to secure a first Q3 in his career.  “The other drivers probably would have improved, but it would have been a decent lap, so I said : "well I have nothing to lose except maybe losing the tires at the end, but go for it, otherwise I'll still be P15 anyway." I misjudged the turn and cut the grass”, says the person concerned. Despite these misfortunes, the two Williams drivers demonstrated that they were comfortable on this circuit. A week after Spa, will they have the opportunity to bring both cars back into the points again?
