The Force Blue, the yacht on which Flavio Briatore arrived last weekend in Monaco, was seized by the financial police for “contraband”. The boat of the former Renault team manager F1 Team was boarded off the coast of Spezia, in northern Italy. Flavio Briatore was not on board but his wife, Elisabetta Gregoraci, and his son Falcon, were there. If this yacht, which flies the flag of the Cayman Islands, is owned by a company domiciled in the British Isles, it appears that Flavio Briatore is the sole tenant.

The financial police of Genoa accuse the owner of the boat of not having paid the VAT that any vessel belonging to a country outside the European Union. This VAT would amount to 4 million euros and the fine that the owner of the Force Blue could have to pay could increase from eight to forty million euros. In addition, Flavio Briatore would have “forgotten” to pay the tax on the fuel used by the Force Blue for two years, saving 800 euros.
