His two clashes with Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) then Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) did not please the International Automobile Federation (FIA). Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) was penalized for the second driving error on Sunday afternoon in Hungary.

The FIA imposed a 10-second penalty on him as well as a withdrawal of two points from his F1 driver's license. Despite this penalty, the Finn retains the benefit of his 5th place.
