Tire compounds available for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix

After the huge hiccup at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in 2021, Pirelli tires must meet the drivers' expectations this Sunday. In Baku, Pirelli revealed its choice of tires, with its most tender range of P Zero. The drivers will have at their disposal: hard C3 tires, medium C4 and soft C5 tires. The Italian group decides to maintain the same choice as that of last year but assures that “ compounds are completely new in 2022. "

« Until the finish in Jeddah, Baku was the fastest street circuit of the year, points out Mario Isola, head of the department F1 at Pirelli. But the demands of this street circuit are still relatively low, as none of the corners demand a huge amount of energy from the tires due to the low abrasion levels and contained side loads – meaning we can have the same choice than in Monaco.» It now remains to be seen whether the new 18-inch tires will hold up to long stints better than their predecessors. As a reminder, Lance stroll had completed 29 laps with its hard tires and Max Verstappen 20 before finishing their races because of punctures.
