This is a first. During the same event, in this case the British Grand Prix, from July 4 to 6, the F1, F2, F3 and F4 will thus be united. Indeed, in a press release, the organizer of British Formula 4 announced that two non-championship races will be contested, each lasting 25 minutes plus one lap. They will only be open to teams already entered in F4 this season.
As F1 celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, British F4 debuts at the Silverstone GP "are even more appropriate given the number of drivers who have cut their teeth and demonstrated their skills in the category over the past decade. Including current Formula 1 stars Lando Norris et Oscar piastri », the organization specifies in its press release.
F4 proud to be "the first step on the road to F1"
“It goes without saying that this is a real milestone moment for everyone involved in the British F4 Championship. Having the opportunity to compete in support of Formula 1 at the British Grand Prix is something we have been working towards for a long time, so we are delighted to have been able to make it happen.”, assures Eve Lake-Grange, director of the championship.
“We are proud to be the first step on the path to Formula 1. And the fact that our drivers can see the potential career roadmap that awaits them – on the very weekend they compete – will be both special and inspiring.”, the leader admits again.
“The interest in this non-championship event has been incredible so far. We are on the verge of confirming a massive and ultra-competitive field. There is no bigger stage than F1. We are all extremely excited to put on a show for the hundreds of thousands of fans who will be at Silverstone in July.”, concludes Eve Lake-Grange.
