Lotus Racing could announce its engine choice for next season before the Belgian Grand Prix. This is what Italia Racing reveals, which affirms that Tony Fernandes' team has decided on the V8 of Viruses-Châtillon, choice which should be made official within two weeks. Renault was favorite to succeed Cosworth, even if the English engine manufacturer said it wanted to continue with Lotus. But from the end of June, AUTOhebdo stated that Lotus and Renault were discussing the possibility of a partnership for 2011. It would therefore seem that the legendary association Lotus-Renault (1983-86) can exist again in F1.
