« Having another opportunity to drive in a free practice session with Williams is a dream come true, and I am gaining more and more confidence every time I drive the car, explained the young British pilot. My main goal for FP1 is to further familiarize myself with the procedures and the Formula 1 environment, and build on my experience from Abu Dhabi last December. I'm excited to feel the progression from the FW46 to the FW47 and I'm incredibly grateful to James, Sven and the team at Grove for entrusting me with the car. This weekend has been a lot of preparation, so thank you to everyone at the Driver Academy for their support in my development so far."
Currently, the Williams Racing Academy driver is competing in his first full season in Formula 2 with Hitech GP. He has had an encouraging start to the year, having finished on the podium at the Australian Sprint Race, the opening round of the season. According to Williams Racing Sporting Director Sven Smeets: " Luke's experience during FP1 in Abu Dhabi, his participation in our TPC program (tests of old single-seaters) and his simulator work have prepared him well for this weekend and we look forward to seeing him take this next step in his development."
