After the "triple crown" livery in 2023 and the one in tribute to Ayrton Senna last year, it is with more orange that the MCL39 will appear this year in the Principality. The new livery this time pays tribute to the McLaren M7A, who made his debut in the World Championship Formula 1 in 1968.
In the fourth race of the championship, the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, the M7A simply took victory, driven by Bruce McLaren, the team's founder. Two more successes followed in a season that saw McLaren finish second in the constructors' standings.
The main reminder of the M7A is the white circle on the sidepods. While it now houses the logo of one of McLaren's main sponsors, at the time it was used to display the numbers of the cars of Bruce McLaren and the reigning world champion, Denny Hulme. The numbersOscar piastri and Lando Norris will be arranged in the same way, but in the usual locations used in Formula 1 for several years, that is to say on the nose, and the side of the engine cover of the MCL39.
