New safety rules for helmets will be introduced from 2019 in major FIA championships, starting with the Formula 1. The World Council, meeting Wednesday evening in Paris, ruled in favor of better protection of helmets according to four points: advanced ballistic protection, increased energy absorption, more rigorous impact tests and a zone of extended protection.

The FIA ​​also confirmed a new rule on biometric security, with the aim of improving rescue operations. The pilots' biological data will be collected via special gloves. They will allow athletes to “track their biological data before, during and after the race to improve training, injury prevention and performance. »
