Unlike Romain Grosjean (Haas), blocked in Q1, Esteban Ocon (Renault) and Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) continue their journey on the Red Bull Ring. The two Frenchmen advance to Q3 despite wet track conditions.
The surprise of this Q2 concerns the poor form of Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). The Monegasque only set the 11th fastest time, and did barely better than the valiant George Russell at the wheel of a modest Williams.
In addition, Lance stroll (Racing Point) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas) are also eliminated.
