Former team manager of Team Lotus, Wolf and Copersucar Fittipaldi, Briton Peter Warr died yesterday of a heart attack.

Born in 1938, this former driver who did not access the premier discipline started at Lotus in the early 1970s, and was part of the team that allowed Jochen Rindt and Emerson Fittipaldi to win the world title in 1970 and 1972 respectively. After leaving for Wolf in 1976, after the latter closed in 1979, he joined the Copersucar Fittipaldi stable, owned by Emerson?s older brother. He finally returned to the Lotus fold in 1981, at the request of Colin Chapman.

On the death of the latter in 1982, Warr became boss of the team, and remained so until 1989. He was notably at the origin of the arrival within the team of Ayrton Senna in 1985, the year of the two first victories of the Brazilian in Formula 1.
