Qualified in 19th position for the Montreal Sprint, Pierre Gasly will finally start from pit lane, the team Alpine having decided to change the settings of his car after Friday's qualifying. With the Parc Fermé system in place between qualifying and the sprint race (before teams are again allowed to change their setups before Grand Prix qualifying), Gasly is forced to start from the pits.
The French team also broke the curfew on the Norman driver's car for the first time this year. With regulations allowing four exceptions per season, Gasly will not incur any further penalty. The Canadian Grand Prix Sprint will start at 18 p.m. Paris time.
